The goal of add em up is to eliminate all the number tiles from the board. You have to quickly add up to eliminate those tiles.

Each turn you will get to place a next tile from the queue. After you place the tile all the surrounding tiles will be eliminated if they add up to the value of the tile that you just placed from the queue. If the sum is more than nine only the last digit will be considered. For eg. for 13 only the last digit 3 will be considered. So use your brain quickly and start adding up the numbers if you want to score good in this game.

You also get power moves which frees you from a difficult situation but use them sparingly as you get only 5 power moves. There are five kinds of power moves: new queue(gets you a fresh queue), eliminator(select and eliminate all the instance of the number), bomber(blows up the surrounding tiles), oopside(undo your move), switcher(randomize the tiles on the board)
